The economic revolution which has been going on through out the world forced the business magnets to search for new areas in order to bring a new face and high stability to their business venture. As a part of the business development, the world of business needed a lot of experts in this field. In order to meet the fresh requirements people from various countries started to migrate to other places of the world and this enabled them to escape from the economic imbalance of the world by acquiring a comfortable and stable living means from the renewed business field.
These migrants have to mingle and associate with the people of those countries having different culture and language as a part of dealing their business matters. The unawareness about the culture and beliefs of the people in a country has produced a lot of differences and misunderstandings between them and made their business field too much uncomfortable. In order to overcome this, the need of intercultural training has become very essential.
In the intercultural training the candidates get a clear picture of the culture and the customs prevailing in a particular country and also get some helping words regarding how to mingle and associate with the people there. This enabled the trainees to clear the differences and misunderstanding between them to a greater extent. A mere training is not sufficient for a trainee to become perfect in dealing the matter timely and suitably. The latter part of the training can be attained by allowing the candidate to mingle with the people of the country concerned.
Usually the trainees come across with one or two persons, or a group of people in a locality. On closely viewing the peculiarities in their behavior, nature, custom and language the trainees can make some preliminary judgment on the culture of the people there. These peculiarities cannot be taken into consideration for making judgments about the culture of the people of the country as a whole. If such an attempt is made, then it will be ultimately wrong and the result will be absolutely false. This false judgment is termed as stereotyping in the intercultural training. Sometimes the stereotyping may hurt the feelings of the people of the country. This will be too much dangerous as far as the business men are concerned and remain as an obstacle throughout in their further movement. Hence the business men are always warned to ignore the stereotyping, because it is the negative way of seeing the people in a country.
To overcome this difficulty the intercultural consultants have suggested the need to attain the state of intercultural competency by the candidates of the intercultural training. Cultural competency is the ability to live across the culture and the cultural boundaries. The same can be obtained by making a serious and thorough study of specific cultures and beliefs of a country in a very elaborate way. Hence the cultural competency has become very important, since it can overcome the difficult and dangerous situation developed by the judgment on the culture of a country on the basis of stereotyping.
